FRIDAY’S POPSTYLE DIVA- NICKY FROM LA

Wat A Gwan Divas!!!!!  Today’s PopStyle Diva comes to us from LA.

This Jamaican aspiring actress says “The thing I love the most about fashion and putting outfits together is modifying old/existing pieces to create a new look. For example, turning a dress into a skirt or a skirt into a top, or wearing the back to front, stuff like that. Simple changes that doesn’t always require the skill of a sewing machine, or better yet breaking the budget. Just channeling your creativity you’d be surprised to see what you can come up with!”

“Looks like a dress doesn’t it? Two pieces though. A tube jumper and a once dress turned skirt.”

Black tube; Black, crush-silk, midi skirt; Patent leather strappy sandals (Lust for Life).

“Sporting an old fave top, and these dressy cargo pants that I fell in love with the moment I laid eyes upon. And the pumps should be a closet staple.”

Red ‘Marilyn Monroe’ top (Betsyville); Green cargo pants with pull string (H&M); Camo pumps (Guess).

Her  Bohemian kinda mood!

Black off-the-shoulder blouse; Black & nude tie-dye maxi skirt.

“This is an old dress that I modified to a one shoulder and got rid of the belt. It’s meant to be flowy and easy.”

Green one-shoulder maxi dress (Michael Kors). Gold gladiator sandals.

“Soft and demure with a little bad girl, bold jewelry to make a bit of a statement.”

Light pink blouse with beaded pearl detail; Off-white flair pants; Gold strappy sandals.

” The dark period. Feeling goth, feeling naughty, feeling carefree. Awwww.”

Black lace maxi dress w/body suit; Over-the-knee boots.

“It was a  chilly day in LA so a perfect time to break out this biker jacket from H&M.”

White biker jacket (H&M); Black zippered skinnies; Black patent pumps.

“I love reversible tops or reversible anything, and this one has a beautiful and vibrant floral print on the reverse side (inset). I tucked in the front and pushed up the sleeves for a different look.”

Pink reversible silk blouse; Black leather pants; Black & purple snakeskin booties by Corsia Scene.

A more demure Nicky. “In a quest to recreate old pieces, I’ve schlopped off the sleeve of this old top for a toned down black-tie look. And up goes the fro.”

Black one-shoulder top w/bold sequined stripes; Black midi pleated vintage skirt.

“I shop everywhere. From yard sales to high-end shops. I don’t limit myself because good style isn’t about copying the trendiest looks, wearing the priciest pieces or wearing what fashion editors tell us to. I’m all for creating your own personal style. And let’s face it, who doesn’t want a good bargain these days.

Muticolored, striped, sheer, crop top; Black faux leather pencil skirt; Blue patent pumps.

“It’s been unseasonably cool the last few days in LA, so I broke out the fuzzy sweater.

Pink fuzzy sweater; Wine colored pencil skirt; Pink lace-up sandals.

WOW! Great styley sense Nicky!!!!! I love them all, you definitely march to the beat of your own drum. To see more of Nicky’s style sense visit her Facebook fan page!
